Life Skills

In Life Skills classes, students work toward the goal of living on their own with minimal supervision by practicing daily skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, menu planning, and budgeting. Our campus is equipped with a Life Skills Lab, a space set up as a model apartment in which students might one day live. Students make the bed, do laundry, and clean the apartment as if it was their home. The goals and objectives of the Life Skills classes are evaluated annually in each student’s Individualized Life Plan (ILP). Preparing these men and women to live, work, and be active members of their community truly embodies the vision and mission of Trousdale School to teach “Learning for Life.”

"I am thankful for the staff and all their hard work. I am thankful to have such good friends. Math is my favorite class because I enjoy learning how to count money and make exact change."
