Functional Academics

Math, reading, and writing classes are the core of our functional academics programming. Our teachers design their curriculum to address the specific needs of the individuals they serve, helping them develop new skills and maintain current skills. In functional academics, students practice everything from reading nutrition labels, to calculating the tip when dining at a restaurant, to filling out an application for employment, to enjoying age-appropriate literature on their reading level. Each student’s goals and objectives in math, reading, and writing are evaluated annually in the Individualized Life Plan (ILP).

"Trousdale School provides a safe, positive learning and social environment for our young adults."
